Google Mobile Maps Now With MyLocation



Google Maps for mobile phones has announced a new feature called My Location.
Google Mobile Maps Now With MyLocationMy Location is a new beta technology from Google that uses cell tower identification to provide you with approximate location information, so it will work on phones without GPS. Simply fire up Google Maps for mobile, press [0], and the map will indicate your approximate location by centering on a blue circle like this: Google Mobile Maps Now With MyLocation
Google Maps for mobile is currently available in over 20 countries and Google is working to increase its availability.
Google Maps works with the following devices:
  • Most Java-enabled (J2ME) mobile phones.
  • Palm devices with Palm OS 5 and above.
  • All color BlackBerry devices.
  • Windows Mobile devices with Windows Mobile 2003, 5.0 and above.
  • Symbian Series 60 3rd edition devices.

Real-time traffic — See where the congestion is, and estimate delays in over 30 major US metropolitan areas.
Detailed directions — Whether you plan to walk or drive, your route is displayed on the map itself, together with step-by-step directions.
Integrated search results — Local business locations and contact information appear all in one place, integrated on your map.
Easily movable maps — Interactive maps let you zoom in or out, and move in all directions so you can orient yourself visually.
Satellite imagery — Get a bird’s eye view of your desired location.
